When I started working with Lena, she was a year out of Law School. She was working for a smaller firm in estate planning and unsure about how to achieve more career growth and help pay for student loans without entering big law. Once she learned her company was downsizing, she reached out to get some support as she started her career hunt. We started by exploring her strengths and interests and looking at the market to see where she might fit. We rewrote her resume to ensure it was highlighting transferable skills for a core set of jobs, tightened her elevator pitch, and focused on building her confidence as a candidate. Fast forward three months and Lena landed her first six figure job as an Account Executive in tech and selling a software designed for attorneys. A year later and she’s already won AE of the quarter at her company and is bringing curiosity and confidence into her role to see how she can grow in her career to best suit her skills, interests, and strengths.

Highlights:

  • Salary: $45k -> $150k+ (including variable comp)

  • Career pivot

Meet Lena!

Jenny was a manager of a coffee shop in New York when we started working together. She was looking for a job with more financial stability, better benefits, and was ready to start building her career. We worked together to highlight relevant skills she learned at her first two jobs on her resume, craft her elevator pitch to tell an effective story during interviews, and build confidence in how to walk the walk. Jenny landed the first role she applied for as a Customer Success Associate and more than doubled her salary in the process. Since then Jenny has impressed leaders at the company and has both advanced and pivoted into a new role based on her interests. Today she is a Training Manager at the same company in New York.

Highlights:

  • Salary: $30k w/o benefits -> $65k, over six figures today

  • Breaking into tech

  • Stopped living paycheck to paycheck + started saving for retirement

This is Jenny!

Daphne and I have worked together on and off for the better half of the last decade. She’s worked in several roles all in the art world. When we first started, Daphne was reluctant to ask for much from her employer. She didn’t want to negotiate her salary because the idea of “asking for money” made her uncomfortable. Meanwhile she was barely making enough money to cover her basic needs.

I helped Daphne understand the importance of negotiation and taught her how to negotiate in a way that aligned with her values. The self confidence she has built over the last five years has improved her working life in many ways. Nearly two years ago her company was acquired and instead of sitting back, she advocated for herself and got to define her new role. In the last year, Daphne sought out a competing offer to bring to her employer to get a raise. Most recently she’s leading a collaborative effort with her teammates to negotiate a hybrid working model.

Highlights:

  • Salary: $65k -> $85k

  • Mastering self-advocacy + negotiation

Next up, Daphne!
